The heavily revised Atto 3 Evo replaces it in Australia, with deliveries from September 2026, and in the UK. It is not sold in the US. It targets families wanting a small SUV with plenty of equipment. Design & Interior The quirky dashboard, with its gym-inspired door handles and curved shapes, carries over. The Evo adds an 8.8-inch driver display, a column-mounted gear selector and faster wireless phone charging. UK cars get a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen with Google Maps, which testers found responsive. Reviewers still find some materials cheap, including the plastic steering wheel horn pad. Exterior changes are limited to new bumpers and wheels. Driving The biggest change is the powertrain. The Australian Premium and UK Design switch to a 230 kW rear motor and reach 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. The Australian Dynamic keeps the 150 kW front-drive layout. Reviewers agree the extra power outpaces the chassis. The soft suspension leans and wallows at speed, the steering is heavy and vague, and the brakes feel grabby. Drive's test of the front-drive car found it unsettled above 90 km/h. Range & Charging The Dynamic keeps a 60.48 kWh battery rated at 420 km. The Premium uses a 74.88 kWh LFP Blade battery rated at 510 km, and UK versions reach up to 316 miles. Charging improves markedly on the larger battery, which moves to an 800-volt platform with 220 kW DC charging. That cuts a 10–80% top-up to about 25 minutes. The Dynamic manages 110 kW. A heat pump is standard. Practicality The larger-battery Evo has a 490-litre boot and a front compartment of about 95–101 litres, which suits charging cables. The Dynamic's boot is 434 litres and lacks the front compartment. Rear legroom is good, but tall passengers may find headroom tight. The Premium can tow 1,500 kg braked. BYD's Australian warranty is six years or 150,000 km, with eight years on the battery. Safety The original Atto 3 earned five stars from Euro NCAP in 2022. Scores were 91% for adult occupants, 89% for children, 69% for vulnerable road users and 74% for safety assist. ANCAP also gave five stars in 2022. The Evo carries over the ANCAP rating and has not been re-tested, despite its new rear-drive layout. Euro NCAP noted weak chest protection in the side pole test. Several reviewers find the driver assistance alerts irritating. Verdict The Evo fixes the old Atto 3's slow charging and modest range, and the rear-drive versions are genuinely quick. It is well equipped and practical, with a useful front boot. However, ride and handling remain below class standards, and cabin quality is patchy. In the UK it is priced against more polished rivals such as the Skoda Elroq and Kia EV3.
