It targets families who want a practical, well-built EV at a mainstream price. In Australia it is now one of the cheapest European electric cars on sale. Design & Interior The Elroq is the first Skoda to wear the brand's newer, flatter front design, with slim lights and no traditional grille. Inside, the layout is simple and logical. A small driver display sits behind the wheel, and a 13-inch touchscreen handles most functions. Reviewers rate the cabin as solidly assembled, with sensible storage and practical touches. They also note the latest Volkswagen Group software is a clear improvement on earlier versions. Mid-2026 cars gain an updated Android-based infotainment system, a phone key and vehicle-to-load power. Driving Rear-wheel-drive versions are the core of the range, and the vRS adds a second motor and more power. The 85 reaches 62 mph in 6.6 seconds, while the entry 60 takes 8.5 seconds. Reviewers agree the steering is accurate and body control is tidy. The trade-off is a firm ride, which several testers found unsettled on broken surfaces. Refinement is a strength, with low wind and road noise at speed. Testers describe it as competent rather than exciting, even in vRS form. Range & Charging UK WLTP figures run from 280 miles for the SE L 60 to 372 miles for the SE L 85. The vRS is rated at 344 miles. Australian figures are 395 km for the 60 and 529 km for the 85. Charging speeds depend on version. Skoda's mid-2026 update moves the 60 to a lithium iron phosphate battery that charges at up to 105 kW. Larger batteries charge at up to 165 kW in updated form, and earlier Australian 85 models at up to 175 kW. A 10–80 per cent charge takes roughly 24–29 minutes across the range. Reviewers note the smaller battery trails some Chinese rivals on range. Practicality The boot holds 470 litres with the rear seats up and 1,580 litres folded. That is large for a car of this footprint. Rear headroom and legroom are generous, and reviewers praise clever storage such as a dedicated cable net under the parcel shelf. The mid-2026 update adds a small 21-litre front storage compartment. Safety Euro NCAP awarded the Elroq five stars in 2025. It scored 90% for adult occupants, 87% for children, 77% for vulnerable road users and 78% for safety assist. Side impact tests earned maximum points. Weaker areas were marginal driver chest protection in the full-width test and poor pedestrian head protection at the windscreen pillars. The Elroq has not yet been crash tested by ANCAP. Verdict The Elroq suits buyers who value space, build quality and simple controls over driving flair. It offers a large boot, a quiet cabin and a strong safety result at a competitive price. The firm ride and the entry model's modest range are the main drawbacks. Some Chinese rivals offer more range for the money.
